The information details the installation procedure which will be followed by our technicians in the authorised outlets:
- Prior to any installation it is necessary to ensure that there is no air present in the pump hose, therefore the pump is primed and ready for installation, which can
be achieved by placing the dispensing end of the pump into a container, then by turning the valve on and depressing the pump handle several times until the hose is filled with
PunctureSafe.
- To determine how many units the tyre will require to install can be calculated using the tyre size as detailed on the sidewall of the tyre, for example, 195x75R15
which through using the calculator on the website which equates to 13 units per tyre. The calculate is located on the technical page at www.puncturesafe.com
- The preferred location for the valve stem to be located, wherever possible, at the 6 o’ clock position. Once you have primed the pump, unscrew the dust cap from
the valve stem and with the valve core remover tool provide with the pump unscrew the valve core which will remove the core from the valve core. Once the valve core is removed the air will
slowly escape from the tyre but as the pump is designed to pump against high pressures there would be no requirement to fully deflate the tyre therefore once the core is extracted place your thumb
over the valve stem preventing air loss. Take the dispensing end of the pump and clip it to the valve stem and turn the valve on. You are now ready to install PunctureSafe into the
tyre.
- Lift the pump handle to the fully extended position. When the pump handle is fully depressed it will deliver 4 units of PunctureSafe into the tyre therefore to
install the 13 units calculated previously you would need to fully depress the pump 3 times the lift the handle until 1 unit of the calibrated shaft is visible and depress the handle to install the
last unit of product to finalise the installation of the 13 units.
- Before removing the dispensing end of the pump ensure the valve core and remover tool is conveniently placed to be reinstalled quickly. Remove the end of the
pump allowing a short blast of air to escape from the tyre to ensure the valve is clear of excess sealant then replace the valve core by screwing it back into the valve stem.
- You are now ready to place any lost air from the tyre using a compressor usually this is just a top up of 1-2psi per tyre. The valve cap can now be screwed back
on to the stem or if you have a tyre pressure monitor as supplied by PunctureSafe this can also be replaced.
- It is important that you ensure the customer is aware that after the installation it is advisable to drive steadily for the first couple of miles to distribute the
product within the tyre. Also, inform the driver that a vibration whilst the product is distributing may be experienced which is normal.
The installation is complete and the vehicle is protected against punctures.
